Quely Biscuits History
The first news we got about Quelys are dated around 1853 at the Can Guixe's furnace from the Domenech's family, the actual owner of Quely . Its elaboration is related to the demand of the shipping companies; they needed to be supplied with a product with characteristics very similar to bread, nutritive and lasting, to be part of the food supply during the long oceanic passages.
From the middle of S.XIX, Domenech's family has been making these biscuits, before known as Ship biscuits, for their similarity with some products of British manufacture, Biscuits from Inca, in reference to its origin, or also Oil's Biscuits by one of its components.
It is in 1970 when the familiar business becomes a Limited Company, when it is created Quely, Ltd.
Nowadays, 150 years after those artisan elaborations, Quely continues being a company of capital one hundred percent familiar and from Majorca.
